^Lot 49 Third Reich Navy Dagger by E&F Horster

Kriegsmarine officers dagger, German navy 1935-45. E. &. F. Hörster, SOLINGEN in double oval with stylized sword and company letters TM. Gilded brass hilt fittings show light surface wear/age to highlights of the eagle, swastika pommel and fouled anchor crossguard and quillon block. The off-white celluloid grip shows a couple of minor hairline cracks, complete with tightly twisted brass wire wrap. Plated double-etched blade grades very good/bright showing only minor surface wear/runner marks to the obverse and reverse but, no nicks. Blade retains 99% of the light gray background frosting in the fouled anchor and floral motif etch pattern. Gilded brass lightning bolt scabbard shows nice toning. Push-button release, leather washer in place. Dagger is complete with original portepee tied in correct reef knot.
